From this rocky promontory, go down towards the river and the Saint-Jean district in its green surroundings, reminding us of old crafts and a starting point for long walks.
For returning to the lower part of the town from the Place du 18 octobre, five old pathways laid out as picturesque stairways or paths run across the thirty metres that take you downwards. They all lead to the rue des Fouleries.
- the so-called "200-step" Saint-Pierre descent, close to
the castle, used by washerwomen who used to place
their bundle of damp laundry on a horizontal wooden
bar held by two metal posts.
- the passage du Mail, close to the museum and behind
the monument dedicated to the city's defenders in 1870,
leads towards the Grottes du Foulon.
From the rue de Chartres,
- the Levrette descent
- the Gué aux Chevaux descent
- the chemin des Amoureux
We suggest that you follow the rue Jean Moulin.
